I took this floral closeup on a sunny Sunday afternoon at a local historic garden in mid-September of 2019. The garden was designed in 1950 based on an English Manor Estate. The brick walls enclose a multitude of well-trimmed boxwood navigated by gravel and grass pathways. Flowers abound in this semi-formal garden as well as a host of honey bees on this particular day. This lone honey bee was lucky to have this large sedum flower all to itself.
My parents gave me my 1st camera when I turned 10 in 1965. It was a Kodak Instamatic 104, which I still own. My Dad had been an Air Force photographer and instilled in me my love for photography. I later took up oil painting, but my schedule for both photography and painting has been rather limited in recent years. I went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Horticulture. I worked in a wholesale greenhouse operation for 2 years and then general retail sales for 20 years. I became a small business owner of the Corner Stone II in 1999 which I closed in 2009. Today, I do part time office management as an independent contractor.
